Meet The Team

Samantha Hedley-Barrett
Dental Hygienist

Samantha Hedley-Barrett

Dental Hygienist - GDC #4094

Samantha qualified at Leeds Dental Hospital in 1991 and has worked in general practice ever since. She has a particular interest in treating more complex periodontal (gum) problems whilst equally embracing the continued motivation of her regular patients to maintain and improve their oral health. She appreciates that dental treatment can be a daunting experience and so always endeavours to make every visit as comfortable and friendly as possible.

Outside work she enjoys spending time with her husband, two girls and two dogs. They love to travel, explore new places and experience different cultures. She enjoys a challenge both in and out of the work place, so every year she and her husband set themselves a goal, running, biking, swimming or trekking the hills there is always something on the horizon.

Martin Nolan
Dentist

Martin Nolan

Dentist - GDC #59048

Martin qualified in 1984 in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and started his career unexpectedly close to home in St Helens. After searching for a new practice in an attractive area to live he moved to Clitheroe in 1989 and put down his roots in the Ribble Valley.

Martin works four days a week at Cramond House and spent 24 years as a Clinical Assistant in the Orthodontic Department at Burnley General Hospital. The experience gained there has enabled him to fulfil much of the orthodontic needs of our patients. This is both more convenient, minimising time out of school, and very satisfying. He enjoys the variety that general practice offers and the challenge to develop new skills as techniques evolve.

Out of practice he was a Governor of St Michael and St John's Primary School for many years serving including a period as Chair and is manfully persisting with piano lessons to modest effect - he has a very patient teacher.

He is married to Catharine a recently retired Optometrist and they have two children, Rosemary and Joseph, who work in London and The Hague and neither of whom was tempted by a career in dentistry or optics!

Catherine Cumpstey
Dentist

Catherine Cumpstey

Dentist - GDC #70558

Catherine qualified in Newcastle-upon-Tyne in 1995 and after working in the North East for a short time she returned home to the Ribble Valley. She joined Cramond House in 2005 and went into partnership with Martin in 2011.

She enjoys all aspects of clinical dentistry and frequently attends postgraduate hands-on courses to keep pace with developments in new materials and techniques.

Away from work her main passion is food and she spends a good deal of time cooking and baking. She is very much an outdoor person and loves walking in the Lake District and in particular Snowdonia which she has visited from a young age. She also enjoys running to keep fit and during the Summer months often heads up Longridge fell or Pendle hill after a busy day at the practice.

Cathy Jefferies

Dental Hygienist - GDC #3275

Cathy qualified at Guy's Dental Hospital in London in 1986. She returned to the North west soon after and has enjoyed treating and motivating patients with gum disease ever since. At home she loves cooking and baking and then runs or walks off the calories with her beloved trail hound.
